NO SMOKING ALLOWED AT SHERATON HOTEL
The Sheraton Karachi Hotel is now a completely "Smoke-Free" hotel. Smoking is prohibited in the restaurants, lobby, foyer areas, meeting and banqueting rooms, floor corridors, lounges, hotel shops etc. The only places where smoking will be allowed are open areas, such as the poolside and for in-house guests who like to smoke, they are provided accommodation in the 'smoking rooms' so that they can smoke in the privacy of their rooms. GOVERNMENT BANS SMOKING IN PUBLIC
The government withdrew the Statutory Rules and Orders (SRO) on designated smoking areas, totally banning smoking in any place of public work to protect the health of non-smokers. Health experts claimed that non-smokers who are exposed to second-hand smoke at home and workplaces have a 20 to 30 per cent higher chance of developing lung cancer besides other health complications. Approximately 0.1 million people die every year in Pakistan from diseases caused by tobacco. According to estimates of Pakistan Medical Society a total of 1.8 million youth between 10 to 24 years of age are at high risk of getting cancer and other diseases from smoking.
