Smile­Times: First ever dental practice newsletter started in 2005 and is quarterly. We have a circulation base of approximately 5000 copies.

Smile­Buddies: An art competition was held and organized by Dr. Sarwat & Associates for over 500 children from 15 participating schools. The subject of the competition was the children’s perception of dental treatment and dental diseases. The ages of participants ranged from 5yrs to 16yrs. A famous artist David Allsworth adjudged the exhibits.

ACDE­ Academy of Continuing Dental Education: This is a forum for dentists to improve their clinical dental skills. As president of ACDE, she organized the head of Oral Implantology of Johns Hopkins University to conduct Pakistan’s first intensive course on Oral Implantology. She has also arranged courses at Imperial College, London for dentists from Pakistan, UAE and India. Also took a team of dentists to Madrid, Dubai and Turkey.

Periodontics
It is the specialty of dentistry that is dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of gum diseases around the teeth. Also it is dedicated to the planning, placing & the maintenance of dental implants.

Clinically gum disease is normally seen with inflammation, reddening, bleeding when brushing and gum retraction. For that reason, it is very important to visit the periodontist when one of these signs appears.

Implantology
It is a specialty in dentistry that is dedicated to the planning, placing and maintenance of dental implants. Dental implants are artificial roots of titanium that are placed in the maxilla or in the jaw to replace deteriorated or absent teeth. By this way you can recover any lost teeth, in a very simple manner. This procedure is carried under local anesthesia (conscious) or I/V sedation

Usually the implant can be placed at the same time of tooth extraction, in the same socket to avoid further interventions. This technique is called immediate implant and gives you comfort by going only through one small intervention. If you are missing some teeth or must replace a deteriorated tooth it is important that you ask us about dental implants.

Sedation
We offer every available technique to provide comfort & ease during treatment. The Consultant will discuss the various options carefully with the patient to ensure procedures are free from pain, anxiety and fear. We can offer oral sedation and intravenous sedation. General Anesthetic is available and will be performed as and when is required in a hospital. Dr. Sarwat & Associates has admitting rights with major hospitals in Karachi.

Infection Control & Sterilization: All guidelines laid down by the American Dental Association (ADA) and British Dental Association (BDA) are followed. A system of universal precautions are enforced and implemented. A process of cold & hot sterilization methods is used on all instruments, which need to be sterilized. More importantly wherever possible, disposable products are used.
