Ilmesters
Academy, an IB World School, is proud to have achieved World School status as a
result of receiving accreditation for the International
Baccalaureate’s Primary Years Programme (PYP). Our core
focus is delivering high quality academic programmes that
will enable students to achieve their intellectual potential
and have greater access to universities both in Pakistan and
internationally. We are dedicated to excellence with the aim
of enabling our students to develop into open-minded
individuals. Our curriculum is driven by inquiry-based
learning practices. We offer a wide range of co-curricular
activities which expose our students to new experiences and
challenges.
Education is
the cornerstone of a successful and fulfilling life. Besides
giving us an opportunity for a better life, education helps
us to discover lasting values. The current education system
is one that lacks the ability to teach students in the
practical way of life. This need for a fundamental change in
our education system is what we, at Ilmesters, aim for.
CURRICULUM
In the PYP, the
curriculum is transdisciplinary – it is engaging, relevant,
challenging and significant for learners between the ages of
3 – 12 years. Children are learning skills, adapting
attitudes, applying approaches and accessing knowledge
beyond the books. The aim is to develop young minds into
problem solvers.
From grade 7
onwards, the school is pursuing the Cambridge system in
which students are exposed to a broad range of content in
English Language, Literature, Mathematics, Science, History,
Geography, Computer Studies, Physical Education and
Islamiyat. O level subjects will be introduced in Class IX.
In Class X and XI, students are thoroughly prepared in
subject content as well as in examination approaches and
techniques.
OUR MISSION
Motivated to
work for a tolerant and peaceful world, our mission is to
create a learning environment that promotes intercultural
understanding and helps young learners grow academically and
personally as socially responsible citizens of the world.
Our challenge
is to merge knowledge of a rich and diverse tradition with
the openness and flexibility of an international curriculum
and deliver it through an enthusiastic faculty that works
collaboratively with students and parents.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Ilmesters
Academy follows a student centered teaching approach with
the objective to inquire and explore to make sure all our
learning methods support student inquiry, exploration and
discovery.
Our aim is to
produce young minds that can handle the upcoming challenges,
problems, issues of the world with peace, appropriate skills
and attitudes. In order to achieve this aim, Ilmesters
Academy is working as an IB World School and pursuing
programmes offered by international baccalaureate.
IB MISSION STATEMENT
The
International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring,
knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a
better and more peaceful world through intercultural
understanding and respect. To this end the
organization works with schools, governments and
international organizations to develop challenging
programmes of international education and rigorous
assessment. These
programmes encourage students across the world to become
active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand
that other people, with their differences, can also be
right.
Primary Years Programme (PYP)
We believe focus on the development of the whole child as an
inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside, is
imperative to a child’s mental growth.
This is why we
off er the IB programme for students aged 3 to 12. The PYP
curriculum model relies on our commitment to a particular
belief about how children learn, wrapped in the same
constructivist approach put forth by Piaget.
It is
acknowledged that learners have beliefs about how the world
works based on their experiences and prior learning. To
find out more about the PYP, please visit
www.ibo.org.
VALUES & CHARACTER BUILDING
The learner
profile describes a list of attributes that promote academic
rigor and the establishment of a personal value system
leading to a mindset that is accepting of the cultures and
societies outside our own. It is expected that PYP teachers
will assess and report on individual student development
regarding each of these attributes. The programme encourages
students to become:
● Inquirers –
their natural curiosity has been nurtured and they actively
enjoy learning
● Thinkers – they exercise initiative in applying thinking
skills critically and creatively to solving complex problems
● Communicators – they receive and express ideas and
information confidently in more than one language
● Risk-takers – they approach unfamiliar situations without
anxiety and have the confidence to explore new ideas
● Knowledgeable – they have explored themes that have global
significance and have acquired a critical mass of knowledge
● Principled – they have a sound grasp of the principles of
moral reasoning and have acquired integrity, honesty and a
sense of justice
● Caring – they show sensitivity towards the needs and
feelings of others, and have a sense of personal commitment
to helping others
● Open-minded – they respect the values of other individuals
and cultures and seek to consider a wide range of points of
view
● Well-balanced – they understand the importance of physical
and metal balance and personal well-being
● Reflective – they give thoughtful consideration to their
own learning by constructively analyzing their personal
strengths and weaknesses
